A Buryat legend – the native people who has been living for centuries the Siberian lands close the Baikal Lake – tells about a man with supernatural powers from the Olkhon Island.
One day this man decided to turn his 3 sons into 3 eagles, so that they would be free to fly anywhere, but only on the condition that they would not eat dead meat, by any chance. The brothers were extremely happy with their newly gained freedom as eagles and decided to fly around the island, after promising their father not to eat dead meat. However, after an entire day spent flying around the island, they became very hungry and the only thing they could find was a dead animal. Despite their promises, they ate it. When their father learned about it, he was so displeased and furious so that he turned them into the 3 rocks and threw them into the Lake.
